Offering groups is an important way that we obey Jesus’ command to “make disciples”. Different groups exist for different purposes, meeting a variety of needs as people move forward into a personal relationship of finding and following Jesus, which is lifelong journey.
We offer four distinct types of groups at Anchor of Hope:
Connect groups: These groups focus on building relationships as opposed to studying the bible. Christians and Not-yet Christians form authentic relationships with one another based on common interests, including serving others. No curriculum is required.
Growth groups: These groups focus on learning instead of relationship building. Participants increase in knowledge and wisdom through an in-depth study of a particular book of the Bible, a book written by a Christian author, or a video series.
Life groups: These groups are the size of an extended family, they do life together, and are a tiny church within the larger church. These groups might pray together, eat together, sing together, serve together, and study together.
Disciple-maker groups: These groups consist of 4-5 men with men or women with women who encourage one another, challenge one another, hold one another accountable, and apprentice together under the Lordship of Jesus to become like him based on their unique design, giftedness, and calling. It's like having spiritual running partners, or doing CrossFit for your soul.
